A Magical Mystery Tour Through the Hard Rock Park
Part Three - An American Idoit, Born in the USA
by Raymond Elling - Posted on Friday, August 24, 2007

Yes, I referred to myself as an idoit. It's hard to come up with good titles but its all in good fun. As we moved over through the Born in the USA section of the park, the Hard Rock Live Amphitheater sat still under construction. Thousdans will be able to stand under the theater and you could feel the anticipation of the first band to take the future stage. I can only guess the lineup for the first show to celebrate the park's opening next spring.

Across from the Amphitheater, the Great Meals Diner is taking an obvious form. Just like the model in the Backstage Tour, the curves of the front entrance are noticeable. I can hardly wait to see the stone-like wall which will make up the side of the building. The interior of this American diner is enormous and droves of guests will be able to sit and enjoy a nice meal come opening day.

Just down the road, the Main Street Gas & Gifts is also under construction. We hung out for a few moments to let several construction vehicles go by. It was at this point I really understood the complexity of the whole operation. You could almost compare the crews to worker ants heading off to do their part for the colony, meticulous in there work. Sitting here and seeing trucks and bulldozers go by as crews tinker with the footers at Shake Rattle and Rollercoaster I got that nervous feeling in my stomach that something wonderful was being built all around me. Oh how the anticipation was growing by this point.

Speaking of the Shake, Rattle and Rollercoaster, the foundation for the base supports dot the area so we could almost make out the track this family coaster will take. The station too is already under way. I was advised that when this coaster starts going up, it will be done in no time. Incidentally, several coaster pieces sit off to the side waiting for their turn at construction.

We'd revisit the Born in the USA section on our return trip, which would be filled with a few more surprises, but next up we headed over for a little Southern Style.

Next up get ready for: "Part Four - A Little Bit Country"

Previous Sections: "Part Two - The British are Coming!" & "Part One - Like a Kid in a Candy Store"
