Fishing
Village of Murrells Inlet, SC!
Located
just 10 miles south of fast paced Myrtle Beach, we invite
you to visit the historic fishing village of Murrells
Inlet. In days long past, Murrells Inlet was the home
of Native American tribes, 16th century Spanish explorers,
and English colonists during the 17th century. Rich rice
plantations, marked the area. Even Blackbeard the Pirate
made a stop to bury plundered rum.
There
are very few hotels and motels, but the beachfront is
stocked with beach homes for rent and offer spectacular
views of the ocean and marsh.
The
great salt marsh is a breathtaking sight to behold and
is rich with fresh seafood for all. There are dozen of
restaurants to sample the fresh catch of the day, as well
as many other type of cuisines.
To
keep you busy, there are several golf courses, mini golf
courses, parasailing, fishing charters, and tours to fill
the day. Two main features for recreation are the beautiful
Brookgreen Gardens, and Huntington State Park, located
on the border with Pawleys
Island. You'll marvel at Brookgreen Gardens. This
9,200-acre property is home to many animal habitats, sculptures,
and gardens of both plants and water. Huntington State
Park remains a getaway from development with is untouched
beach, freshwater lagoon, saltmarsh, and the national
historic landmark, "Atalaya" castle.
You'll
find plenty of shopping in the area from malls, beachwear,
and antiques. Development is exploding in Real Estate
so you can easily stake a claim to some land for a second
home, or to make Murrells Inlet your primary abode. One
thing is for sure. We suggest Murrells Inlet as a definite
area to explore when visiting the Grand Strand.
