Beach Wedding Day Tips for Spring and
Summer Brides

PRE-PLANNING TAKES AWAY YOUR STRESS
by Linda Gross with Discover Myrtle Beach

The spring and summer wedding season is fast approaching. So, what better time to sit down with a local wedding day officiator and gather planning tips to help reduce some of the stress associated with a couple's "Big Day". We spoke with local officiator Linda Gross of Lovers Lane Weddings of Myrtle Beach, who offered many wonderful pieces of advice for brides and grooms, looking to hold their most-memorable day at the beach. Here's what Linda had to say:

Your Wedding Day will go by very fast and you will want to enjoy every minute of it. So the more you plan and stick by your checklist and timeline the less stress you will have.

You should obtain your SC Marriage License as soon as possible.  It never expires once issued.

Be sure to discuss with your Wedding Officiant, the best day, time and location of your Beach Wedding. Decide if you need chairs for your guest. Plan to have a cooler full of water and cool cloths for you and your guests. If you are having music, decide which way the wind will carry the sound on the beach.

Wind may play a role in your beach wedding too. Have your hair pulled back away from your face.  The wind can disturb you and many of your beautiful pictures. The guys may want to wear a tie clip to keep the wind from blowing the tie around.

But wind may not be the only additional guest at your wedding. The general weather could always play a role. Bring a Wrap to put on if the temperature drops after sunset. The air temperature can change quickly. If it rains, a backup location may need to be considered. Colorful Umbrellas for your guests can be beautiful for pictures.  Most storms can pass by within 15-30 minutes.  Patience is a Virtue!  If it is a thunderstorm be safe and seek shelter always!

Going with tradition, all Brides should wear Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue. Bubbles are fun for all ages to blow after the Wedding Ceremony!

Don't be afraid to add some alternative ideas. Consider Sea Shells as an alternative for the flower girl to throw on the beach.  Great activity for your guest to help gather the sea shells in advance. If there is a ring bearer or a clumsy best man, make sure the wedding rings are secured. If they should fall in the sand, they may be hard to find.

Capturing the day in photos is something every couple will cherish for the rest of their lives. So making sure you photograpghy is to. Your desires are very important. Arrive early for photos and your wedding. Let your photographer know in advance if you are looking for a favorite beach wedding photo that you have seen and like.

At our weddings, we love drawing a big heart or a big circle in the sand for you to stand in. We recommend letting us know in advance. On or before the wedding, decide how you want to stand on the beach. You will want to consider the wind and sun. Your officiant or photographer can help you with that choice. We encourage you to have the beautiful Atlantic ocean towards your backs. It is a fabulous backdrop for all of your pictures.

Remember it is your wedding day; it should be just as you have dreamed!  Take a deep breath and enjoy!
