Choosing a Photographer for your
Destination Wedding in Myrtle Beach

Capture Your Special Day the Right Way
by Pasha Belman with Discover Myrtle Beach

When it comes to Myrtle Beach Weddings, you can imagine the ideal setting of your wedding and the beauty of the surroundings. So choosing a photographer to capture one of the most important days in your life should not be taken lightly.

Local photographer, Pasha Belman, sat down with Discover Myrtle Beach to help couple find the right photographer for their beach wedding and find the right person that will compliment your personality. Here's what Pasha had to say:

Couples that lean towards an outdoor destination wedding definitely should consider the variety of locations that Grand Strand has to offer. Besides the romantic sandy beaches, your search for a perfect wedding location could lead you through other beautiful areas, including elegant flower gardens, glamorous country clubs, and historic plantations. In Myrtle Beach, you will be able to find dream southern style wedding locations with impressive wedding photography opportunities. Your wedding photographer will be delighted to capture your ceremony and celebration moments with a spectacular local panorama in view.

Beach Weddings by Pasha BelmanWhen it comes to choosing your wedding photographer, you should realize that this might be one of the most important decisions you can make while planning your big day. You work so hard, spend so much time and money to make your wedding look and feel exactly the way you want it, and it will be all over in few hours. The only tangible proof of your efforts and beauty during the wedding day will be the photos and videos taken during it. So do not compromise when it comes to choosing your wedding photographer.  Hire a photographer for the quality of their work, not for their price. Wedding photography is an art, and if you absolutely love the photographer’s artwork, you will like the photos of your wedding day even more!

I strongly recommend for all the couples to consider having an engagement session. It might seem to be not an easy thing to do if you need to travel to Myrtle Beach and need to make special arrangements for the trip. Discuss your schedule with the photographer because most likely you will be in town for coordination of your wedding and booking local vendors. Take advantage of one of your wedding planning trips to the area, meet the photographer your are interested in hiring in person and see if they could be available for an engagement session while you are visiting Myrtle Beach.

There are several advantages to such a strategy. First, meeting your photographer in person before you commit to wedding photography agreement is critical, even though with the help of Internet applications such as Skype it might not be always necessary. The photographer needs to know you, what you want and you both need to be comfortable with each other, and this can be accomplished well during a face-to-face meeting. During your meeting, ask the photographer all the questions you have (The Knot is a great resource for preparing all the right questions), rate his/her professionalism and at the same time ask yourself a question: “Would I want to bring this person to a casual social gathering and introduce to my friends and family?” If your answer is “no”, then you should look for someone else because a good personality is very important. This person will be sharing your special day and interacting with your relatives and friends so you must like him/her as a person.

Second, try to prearrange your engagement session with the photographer even before coming to Myrtle Beach for the initial meeting. It is important to have an engagement session because it really helps for you to get used to being photographed in a relaxed natural setting. As a result, you will feel much more comfortable being photographed on your wedding day. You will also have the opportunity to know if you and the photographer are not a good fit for each other in time to find a new photographer for your special day.

After choosing your life's partner, I think that choosing your photographer is almost the most important choice you will make for your wedding day.
